After consolidating in 2012, Gaston County's Health Department and Department of Social Services began working together under the Health & Human Services umbrella. The goal of consolidation was to “Serve the people of Gaston County with a newfound efficiency.”
In addition to increased efficiency, increasing the accessibility of services is equally important to the success of consolidation. We continue to work towards a ‘No wrong door’ policy, making it as easy as possible for clients to access all our services at any location. We also continue looking for ways to partner with outside organizations to bring in external services that will benefit our consumers.
